SEPP MAIER - Biography
Josef Dieter Maier, born February 28, 1944, in Metten, Germany, played professionally for Bayern Munich from the 1962-1963 season. Known as "Die Katze von Anzing" (The Cat of Anzing), Maier co-designed goalkeeper gloves with Reusch in 1973. With Bayern Munich, he won four DFB-Pokal titles, four Bundesliga championships, a European Cup Winners' Cup, three European Cup titles, and one Intercontinental Cup. Maier played for the German national team from 1966 to 1979, earning 95 caps. He was part of the German team that won the 1972 European Championship and reached the final of the 1976 European Championship. Maier was also instrumental in Germany's victory at the 1974 FIFA World Cup. His career ended in 1979 due to a car accident.
